Day 2 ... Adoption Day!

Last night, the little guy finally fell asleep about 12:30!  He didn't cry, but he never stopped talking. I laid down beside him and told him that Mommy was sleeping and he needed to sleep. He said, "Mom, wake up! Let's sing songs." He lifted one of my eyelids and just started laughing and singing a song about two tigers. After he finally fell asleep, he woke up every hour and felt my face to make sure I was still there and then put his arm around me. I woke up at 3am with a headache and one of the kids came in at 4am because they had a nightmare.  I never fell asleep after that because I was surrounded by 3 warm bodies.  We got up and went downstairs for breakfast at 7:30am. Hudson ate a full bowl of fruit, 2 hard boiled eggs, a glass of milk, and tried yogurt but it was too cold. We took the kids back upstairs where Ayi watched the older our while Jonathan and I took Hudson to all the morning appointments. We got to the lobby and started to load back onto the mini bus. Hudson said he did not want to get back on that bus. He never said a word the whole morning.  I'm sure he was confused.  The first set of interviews and appointments were in the exact same room the orphanage dropped him off to us in.  The second set of interviews was in the same building and after we signed the papers and promised never to abandon him, he was officially ours! YEAH!!
The afternoon consisted of some down time.  We came back to the room and just chilled for a bit. He told us he wanted a hong bao ( a red envelope with his very own money) so we gave him his Christmas gift today from Mamaw and Papaw (some spending money if he finds something that he wants to buy while we are here). We then went down to the garden inside the hotel. It was a lot of fun. Hudson is experiencing so many new things. He saw a waterfall for the first time and thought it was raining. He saw some really fat goldfish in the pond and was afraid of them (until he got brave and threw a leaf in...then he thought it was funny that they tried to eat it). We walked through a department store and let him see all the toys. He pointed at all the ones he recognized from the orphanage (mostly baby toys), but he got really excited about the bikes and scooters.  He rode an escalator for the first time. He thought it was scary at first, then hilarious. He laughed the whole time each time we got on one. We searched for a place to eat dinner and could not find anything at the time except sushi and expensive stuff, so we ended up at McDonald's again.  This time was much different than last time. Hudson ate an ENTIRE cheeseburger (minus the bread), all of his fries, 1 chicken nugget, and his drink.  We had already told the other kids we would treat them to ice cream tonight, so he got to try his first ice cream.  It was hilarious!  The first time he tasted it, he made a horrible face, but then decide it wasn't so bad after all. He kept taking tiny licks and laughing. Somehow he ended up getting ice-cream on the back of his head and all over the place.  Every time he got a little on his face he would reach for a napkin, but forget he had the ice-cream in his hand. We were all laughing so hard (including Hudson) that I thought we were going to get kicked out...ha! WE got back to the hotel and did baths. We decided that we would try to see if he would sleep with the other kids tonight.  He didn't go to sleep immediately, BUT the entire room was quiet and he was sound asleep before 10:00.  THIS is progress. :)

First selfie after officially signing the adoption documents!

Do we have a lefty?? Maybe.
Sharing goldfish.  He tried one, decided he liked it, and asked big sister to share "half" of her plate with him, which she gladly did.

Pj's plus a jacket because he said he was still cold and needed another layer :)

He LOVED his new socks and wanted to put them on right away!
