Flower Market Fun

My girls have been waiting for this all year! The flower market comes to town one time each year for about a week. Last year, they did not get to buy all that they wanted, so they saved some of their birthday and Christmas money for this. We went right after Lauren's dance class since they were in the same part of town.
If you are not a flower/plant person then this blog might bore you a bit, but I have one child who is obsessed with plants. I've never been able to keep things alive, but ever since Katherine took up an interest, our plants flourish.
One of my favorite plants hanging at the top there...a pitcher plant. They aren't necessarily the prettiest plant, but I love that they eat mosquitoes! They are wonderful :)

This was a pretty cool looking cactus. Many times we just take pictures of the fun and interesting ones and then make our decisions near the end as to what we will buy. This one was out of my price range though ;)

I don't know what this one is, but I thought it was so interesting. The flowers were air filled pockets. Definitely one of the most interesting ones that I saw.
 So many pretty flowers.
 Fresh cut flowers
Katherine was on cloud nine. Her first two purchases were a hanging basket of ivy (which she said was so cool) and a pitcher plant.
Lauren looked at every place that had yellow flowers. This ended up being her choice.
The lady pulled out the three best ones and let her choose. She chose the middle one. The lady agreed with her decision :)
 Selfie leaving the market
We squeezed them into the back of the taxi :) flowers, people, dance bags, and dance outfit
Regan only bought one flower, but chose a nice pot for it as well. I love the addition of some orange on the balcony. I also love to see which ones they end up choosing. Their personalities are so similar and yet so different at the same time. Love it.
We got everything out on the balcony and the girls said, "It's so beautiful now. We should go back tomorrow and make it more beautiful."

This was Katherine's most expensive purchase. She said it was so cool. We all kind of joked that she is our flower lover, but she didn't buy any actual flowers.
She decided that she should also get a flower one and chose these cute little ones. She was impressed with the root system, hence the strange picture.

 Her happy place.
A family walk at night...Hudson kept running ahead so that he had time to get set up for the "perfect skyline picture"
This is Lauren and her dance teacher. She is preparing with 3 other girls for a competition. She's so excited about it. Her teacher wants her practicing in her outfit, but doesn't want it to get too sweaty, so she has to wear her normal dance outfit under it. She also threw in some moves that Lauren has never learned before. She said to have a chance that the difficulty level needed to be high. Lauren is loving it!

I bought the two on the floor to add some color and variety.
Lauren bought these. They smell so good!
I was trying to get a picture of Hudson and two of his little friends. He plays with these two more than any other.

Well, we went back to the flower market :)  Lauren said that we never went to the CNY side of the flower market. It's a good excuse to go back, right?
Orange trees are always a popular thing to buy. We prefer the flowers though.
I really liked this one. I almost bought it, but ended up getting a bougainvillea bush. It was so pretty and the lady saw me come back and look at it. It was near the end of the day and she was ready to go home. She said she would give it to me super cheap. I couldn't pass it up. It's the one kind of plant that even when I think I have killed it, it comes back beautiful again :)
Many more people today than the first day...about half in masks.
Katherine decided to buy this guys artwork made of grass. A bought of flowers with a cricket (and he threw in a phoenix for free)

On our way out, Katherine saw this plant and basket stand. Her first comment was, "I love it so much. I want to ask if they will sell the baskets." Her second comment was, "They even spelled FLOWERS right." :)
That's my plant at the bottom of the picture.

We had to look up the name of this one. It's the only one like it that we saw at the market. It's called a bell plant.
I've always wanted to get one of these orchids. They are so popular here and soooo very expensive. I found a guy that was selling some leftover stems that didn't make it into his arrangements. I was happy to have just one :)
What's a holiday celebrating the coming of spring without a little spring cleaning. OK, well, she cleans her gear often, but we were deep cleaning her stuff. We think we found the perfect combination to get the dirt, sweat, and stink out ;)
 Doing some homework together

WE tried to go back again to the market, but it had been shut down early. Many of the vendors were either throwing their stuff out or basically giving it away. Lauren wanted the bamboo. As I'm writing this blog, I am realizing that it appears that we spent a fortune on plants and flowers. We didn't spent much at all! We have good bargainers.
These tulips were Regan's find on the side of the road.
 Regan's
The final product of our balcony
Those tall stems next to the tomato plant by the door were originally about 5 dollars per stem. She gave us 20 stems for about a dollar fifty!
I also helped the boys do some cleaning in their room. Rocky thought that we did it just for him and claimed the bookshelf as his own ;)

We met some friends and the kids fell in love with their BOY dog named GRACE. I think he is a little spoiled.
Regan made a new little friend at the park.
English games with Kimi, Emma, Real, and Anna
The teacher sent me these of Lauren and the other girls in their outfits. So fun.

This is becoming the norm around here. I'm glad everyone is paying attention to health and safety :)
