The end of the school year apparently means LOTS of things to attend! Hudson's class went out for dinner to celebrate finishing 5th grade. He got back home at 10:30pm
They had so much fun! The parents and families were invited but these dinners are not that cheap and this one was only accessible by car (which we don't have) We decided to let whichever kids' class was having the party go if they got a ride with a friend (and if they wanted to go) Hudson had a blast!
Lauren went to Leo B's birthday party. It was a pizza place about a 20 minute walk away. Jonathan picked her up at 10pm when the party ended (on a school night)
Katherine's class did a poem recitation for the parents. Katherine had a dancing part and 1 speaking part.
After Lauren's play, Ms. Sabrina read a piece of literature (usually a poem or short quote) that reminded her of that particular child and put it on the back of one of their pieces of artwork from the year. It's a neat idea (but I didn't understand all of them ;)
The girls helped me pick out some flowers for Lauren. Her dance recital was from 8pm-11pm (again, on a school night)
AWE! They are just too cute!
walking to the show
waiting for Lauren's performance
I got a few pictures, but it's hard to see her. She is the far left blue dress girl in this photo.
The end of the show
The chaos of trying to pick up kids after the show. Everyone was made to leave immediately. Parents just filled the street and sidewalks and the girls came out of the side door looking for family. I don't think anyone got lost.
Lauren was soooo excited that Miss Marianna (one of her teacher's from school) came to the show and hung around afterwards for a hug and a picture. She actually asked if we were going out afterwards and I was thinking...It's 11:00 and we still need showers for all...umm, no. We are going home. One of Lauren's friends also came but left at the next to last act to head home.
We tried to get a family picture, but it was dark outside.
One spoiled puppy.
Lauren's class play, Robin Hood
Lauren and Jason introducing the play at the beginning. Jason is severely autistic and doesn't speak much but he will with and for Lauren. The class wanted him to have a part in the play because he's part of the class. They came up with the idea of having Lauren introduce the play and whispering in Jason's ear to say Robin Hood at the right time. It worked and there were so many cheers and applauses before it ever started. It was so sweet. He was her "little brother" throughout the play so he could just go with her in all of her parts.
Hudson's class play/musical was Peter Pan and SUPER CUTE!
I'm so glad I have videos of all of the songs :) Hudson was the narrator in the play.
After the play, they had a short graduation ceremony for the kids.
Hudson was so excited and cute!
Hudson and Maestra Barbara
Hudson and Teacher Richard
After Katherine's poem, Ms Sabrina did the same thing for her class. She chose her Mona Lisa and had a quote..."We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then is not an act but a habit." This has definitely been Katherine this school year! All of the teachers have been so impressed with all of the kids hard work and especially their behavior.
Katherine wanted a picture of us together in her costume
Katherine and her best friend at school, James.
Katherine was trying to find as many of her teachers as possible to get a picture with them since it is her last year at the school. It's hard to believe that this was her last year of middle school. This is Ms. Sabrina (Katherine Geography and History Teacher)
Miss Marianna (Katherine's English teacher)
group hug
I love how close all the teachers are with the kids.
Miss Marianne taught both of the girls. Katherine only had her for English, but she is the head teacher for Lauren's grade so she was there for English, geography, science, history...I think that's all.
After school some of Lauren's classmates were going for bubble tea and wanted all of my. girls to come. They had fun together.
Every day they bring home more stuff! :)
Katherine's last soccer practice for the season.
Scout is so cute
And this is how they greet me EVERY time I get home :) They get so excited.
