There was no school on Friday so that the teacher's could prepare the school for the exhibition (la mostra) of all the work the kids have done this year. A family we met here asked if there was a day they could come over and learn about Chinese food and culture from our kids. We thought Friday would be the perfect time. Regan cooked peanuts for a snack as we talked and prepared the filling for jiaozi.
The kids enjoyed teaching them how to make the dumplings and the other kids enjoyed trying it :)
Our house no longer has baby toys, so Benjamin went to get two small stuffed animals. Briella was happy and Shadow was lurking nearby because they are about the same size as his toys.
Always a favorite...eggs and tomato
Zane came prepared with an entire "book" of questions of things he wanted to know. Poor guy only got to ask about half of his questions because he started to get a migraine.
Hudson's favorite...cucumber (the other kids that came over didn't really care for it)
Eggplant and Green Beans...the dish the rest of us love!
The kids' jiaozi
Even the baby was looking around at the camera!
We started the exhibition at Hudson's class. Some things I recognized from last time and some things were new. Hudson loved showing us around!
His class does a lot of writing in these books. There's always a picture and then the essay they write (in Italian) Hudson's book is on the far right with a picture of Mexico.
I remember doing this when I was younger!
Maestra Barbara (his main teacher) I love how expressive they are when they talk to each other!
His circle of friends clay project.
His mom holding a baby.
He read his first novel in Italian. It was quite difficult and after about halfway through it his teachers ALSO gave hime the English one to read so that things might make more sense. These are the pictures the class drew about the novel after they finished.
The kids all had "pen friends" with other students in Italy. I really like this project.
One of the pages in Hudson's science book. He studied human anatomy in school last year so it made this part of science a lot easier to learn in Italian!
They finished mapping out the position of the sun. This experiment took all school year...that's dedication!
Hudson was very proud of his tiger picture.
Entering the middle school floor
Lauren was showing me which Peace drawing was hers.
It was fun being one of the first ones there. (We still haven't mastered the being late part of culture yet)

Basically this entire table is Katherine's!!
Katherine's (She said the teacher hung it up before she was finished.)
I don't remember which girl did this one
Katherine
3 or 4 of these are Katherine's. The teacher said that she was putting up some of the homework for the parents to see...but only the kids that got a good grade :)
I took a picture of this one of Katherine's, not because it was her favorite, but because she got a 10 (which is a perfect score...and VERY RARELY given...9 is usually considered the best you can get)
Katherine's "placemat" for school...because of Covid restrictions, the kids began eating in their classrooms.
Katherine's map project. This one is just an example because they are finishing them this week. They have a map that the kids drew, holes for the lights where the capitals go, hook up to the wires underneath, and fill out the corresponding key.
Katherine's Mona Lisa
Katherine's Jane Austen

Katherine's is the one with the "label" in the left corner of the drawing
Katherine's class worked on carving spoons this year. I think it's one of the things she was most proud of and the visiting parents were quite impressed.

Katherine and Lauren stayed a bit longer to hang out with friends. They waved to us after we got home...haha!
Katherine's class was supposed to have a play next week. They have been working on it all semester. Many of the kids in her class were not behaving so the principal cancelled her play. Katherine was so upset because she's worked really hard on this and memorizing her lines, etc. So, she has decided that our family will do the play...she started right away making everyone's costumes...this should be interesting!
