Switzerland- Day 3

Riding the cable car up to Wengen.
Goats on the way up
After the cable car, we took another train to the city center of Wengen.
Always pretty views
And definitely a different view from the valley
The train is a short ride, and it only goes from the cable car to the city and back.
so pretty
More water fountains
haha!

Lots of pretty flowers everywhere

We are beginning our only hike that we paid for a guide...you will soon see why we wanted a guide.
Regan and I hiked the Via Ferrata in Mürren. We were hooked on by two carabiners, one at all times.
I tried my best to get some photos, but there were some sections that I could not because I needed both of my hands at all times just to make sure I made it through ;)

These staples were a little more difficult than I thought. Some were actually easy, but some were really far apart which made it difficult for me.

yes, much of the hike was on the side of the cliffs...some more than others

One of my favorites of Regan...and the end of my favorite part...This was the only part that was possible for me to take a picture. Before coming around the bend you were really hanging off the edge of the cliff. I was really concentrating! haha!
Some wild mountain goats (and the babies) were right in front of us on the trail! I was too slow to get my phone out. They ran away when we got too close, but they were so cute!
They were running away
A zipline to get across the canyon...without the guide you have to hike around the canyon.

Regan

Proof that we had a guide

Some sections had ladders

I like this one, too!
HAHA! This old mamma couldn't do the carabiners fast enough to beat the storm that was approaching. So the guide hooked me up to him while he hooked on and off...only on the less dangerous parts in the mountain.
We also had this tightrope section. I thought it would be difficult but it wasn't too bad.

This hanging bridge was amazing! I thought it would be easy, but I was surprised again! It was swinging and the cables that I thought you could hold on to were too tall on the edges to reach. The center was easy though (plus you had gotten the hang of it. I wish I could have gotten a selfie on the bridge but the guide was worried about the storm coming (it had already started to sprinkle) and there were many people coming up behind us which would make the bridge swing more.
I was able to get Regan on the bridge.

Woohoo! I made it! The flags at the end. This was one of the hardest hikes I have done in a long time, and I was so proud of myself for finishing. Regan had no problems ;)  but my legs were so weak at the end.
Celebration time!
We rode a gondola back to Mürren for lunch. This was the bridge that we crossed. The hike was about 3.5 hrs long.

Rosti
Apple Strudel...YUM!

Walking back to the ABNB we crossed the white river. it looks different in the sun.
