24 Hours

24 hours. The kids opened their first Christmas present.
Regan opened birthday presents from 4 different people. ( Hudson photo-bombed her picture) First, she opened a watch.
 She opened some paints.
She got a cute elephant shirt.
We then opened a Christmas box from Granddad and Mammy.  Hudson loved his play-dough truck.
Lauren was super excited about the spirograph toy.
 Katherine got a new bunny.
Benjamin got a Star Wars action figure.
Regan got iTunes cards!  That was the start of our 24 hr story...and THEN Lauren, Regan, and Benjamin went to taekwondo class. Jonathan was on his way back to their class to pick them up when he had a bicycle accident.
He was going down a hill when it started to drizzle a little.  He braked too hard and wrecked.  His arm was obviously broken (no pictures...I have them, but too gross to show) I was actually in the shower trying to get a hot shower before my kids came home and used up all the hot water.  As I got out of the shower, my phone was ringing, the doorbell was ringing, and the security guard was knocking at the door. I was in my pj's and had wet hair.  He said, "Your husband is hurt. You need to come right now." I grabbed my phone, sat Katherine on the couch and told her to take care of Hudson if he woke up and called Ayi to ask her to come to the house and help me watch the kids.
The ambulance arrived and took Jonathan and myself to the emergency room. I had called a friend to let him know that we were on our way to the hospital. We arrived and were met by SIX of our good friends! The hospital did x-rays and confirmed what we already knew, considering his arm was at a 45 degree angle between his elbow and wrist, it was broken.
The doctor said that he needed to set the bones and that one of them would need to be fixed surgically.  I asked them to please give him something for the pain because he was really hurting.  They said, "Oh? You want medicine? You will have to pay for it." They gave him a local anesthetic and then the doctor and 1 friend pulled with all their might on his elbow, and the doctor had three of our friends pull the opposite direction on his hand. The doctor then pushed on the bones that were sticking out and "set" the bones.  It was quite painful.  I guess with the heat and the absolute grossness (is that a word?) of it all, I just about passed out. Two of our friends grabbed me as I was going down and put me in a chair.  Water and a fan brought me back to normal quickly.
The next morning, we were on a boat to Hong Kong for surgery and a consult with a specialist.
We left 4 of the kids with Ayi, but brought Hudson with us.  It was a miracle that he slept on the boat!
We got to Hong Kong and while Jonathan was in surgery Hudson ate some chicken and corn with a surprise chocolate moose reindeer treat.
We were super glad to see Daddy feeling better (well, on pain meds, but happy) after surgery.  Coming out of anesthesia he was talking to all the nurses in the wrong language...haha!  They kept telling him that he needed to use English because they didn't speak that language.
This is what Hudson thought about staying in the hospital so long.  He said the hospital was boring.  I asked him if he knew what boring meant and he said, "YES! NOTHING to do!" :)  I guess you can learn plenty of English from the Five Little Monkeys books.
These are the only pictures I am willing to put on here right now. This was Jonathan's are AFTER the bones were "set" Oh! Still looks so painful.

Here is his polaroid x-ray that we will have to show at every airport or place with metal detectors.  They had to put in 2 plates and 12 screws to hold it together.
This guy was a hit with the nurses.  He kept saying, "Hello! Give me a hug!" He had them lining up for hugs and they were saying stuff like "oooo" "so cute" "You just melt my heart."
Hudson and I left to go get some dinner.  On our way to McDonald's we ran into Santa!  This was his first time to see Santa.  This Santa did not give candy canes, but gave free Lego Star Wars mini sets!  That's cool. (I hope the other kids...especially Lauren don't find out.  She will be so sad that she didn't get to see Santa.
We continued walking and quickly realized that they had the most amazing Star Wars display outside.
He just cracked me up! (Now Regan and Benjamin are going to be upset...they are super excited about Star Wars 7 coming out).
 AHHH! The bad guys!!
Riding on the MTR. Where is Hudson? :) THAT ends the 24 hours.
Now, it's day 3 and we are ready to go home!  He still has some swelling in his arm and hand, but doing great otherwise.  The doctor was pleased enough to let him go home! Never a dull moment in the Sheddan household!
