Hudson's Field Trip

Hudson is ready to go! He was sent home with a list of things to pack for his 3 day 2 night field trip. It was enough for a week...haha! Most of this blog will be from his retelling of the pictures to me.

Someone at school ended up with Hudson's hat a while ago. I had not intentions of buying another over priced hat for school. However, the kids were supposed to wear them on the trip so the teachers can keep up with them better and to protect them from the hot sun. Mom for the win! I found a reasonably price white hat, cut out the emblem from the falling apart shirt with a million holes and stains, and sewed it on the new hat! It might even look better than the overpriced hats at school ;) and no one knows the difference!
Waiting for the bus to arrive
Teacher Richard came prepared with quite the first aid kit! :)
BYE!!! See you soon! (Hudson is near the front)
Hudson said this was the rest stop on the way to Naples. They got a snack.
Paestum, an archeological park with 3 Greek temples (They studied Greek Mythology in school this year) It's really cool that they get to see all of these places that they have been learning about all year!
In Pompeii, learning about the history from a tour guide. Hudson is actually in a different group because they had an English translator.
After climbing Mt. Vesuvius, they went to eat pizza. I think Hudson was a little tired. :)
In front of the forum in Pompeii

Hudson's class walking up Mt. Vesuvius.
Dinner at the hotel.
Paestum
While at Pompeii, they went to a garden inside. Hudson said it was big, with trees and fruit, and very interesting.
The science museum in Naples. "There was a a cool machine that you put your hands on. There were beans inside. After a few minutes you took your hands off and the beans had your heartbeat."

An arch in Pompeii. Again, Hudson isn't actually in this picture. His grade has 5A and 5B. He's in 5B but 5A had the English translator. He was completely fine with that because a couple of his friends are in 5A anyways.

Lauren's Field Trip and Other Things

Lauren went on her last field trip of the school year. This time it was just a day trip! Davide and Kevin
Giorgia and Lauren
Palazzo dei Papi in Viterbo, Italy
Eleanora and Lea

Melina and Eleanora
picnic lunch
ready to leave for their trip!
We got a phone call from Kevin asking if Lauren and Hudson could meet him at the Bubble Tea place down the street.
Lauren and I got two different passion fruit drinks
Hudson got his usual milk tea
You know Jonathan must be worn out if he's sleeping with the dog! haha!
Hudson had a school performance at an opera house. We each got two tickets. Regan go to go with Jonathan to see her little brother sing his little heart out.

Performing as background singers for Cinderella (in Italian of course)

Hudson waiving :)

He was so excited about the show! He's been practicing NON STOP!!

I love the smell of honeysuckles. Yes, that is Shadow on the sidewalk. He was out on a walk
My tutor is finally back in person!!! YEAH! ANd Scout was super excited to be 100 percent spoiled again!
Random truck selling clothes on the street.
Hudson was so excited to bring home all of this fruit and yogurt. Several of the kids didn't want a snack and they told Hudson he could bring it home since he likes it. The teacher said it was better than throwing it away. I'm a fan, too!! Fruit is NOT cheap!
Katherine at soccer practice. No, I'm not sure which dot she is now that I look back at the photo ;)
I love the friendship in this picture! (Ignore the big hole in the backpack. We are trying to make this one last until we can get her another one for next school year. It's been a good backpack, but just couldn't handle the massive amounts of books it was asked to carry back and forth each day)
We went out to celebrate with our friends, celebrating ONE YEAR in Rome! We actually arrived 2 weeks apart, so they celebrated a few days late, and we celebrated a few days early.

A quick photo before Regan left us a ran off to volleyball class.
The boys (Benjamin said he didn't want gelato...I don't know why, but he's not a huge fan)
two babies and an ice cream ;)
We are so glad to have this family not too far away. They live about 40 minutes from us but that's still fairly close in a big city like this.
Ruthie and Hudson looking at each other sideways
Katherine knitted a zebra! It's so cute!
The puppies getting some love from Benjamin!
