February 2017

I am so glad that Hudson now enjoys trying things "for fun" that helps him with his fine motor skills.  He and Lauren decided that they would practice lacing or "sewing" for fun.Hudson preferred the big boards and Lauren the smaller ones.  I'm glad they still enjoy the simple things.
Just a normal day riding up the escalators...now that I think of it, this could have been one of the many public places we were this week where we were fortunate enough to pick up strep for one (Katherine) and either the flu or stomach virus (for myself)...I guess we were the lucky ones.  I hope it stays away from the rest of the family!
This cracked me up when I saw it.  All of our bikes are parked at the bottom of our building in the bike parking.  Hudson noticed that all of the big bikes had locks, so he has made one for himself!  He's such a smart boy.
The weather has been up and down as far as cold and warm.  Our weather app said warm and sunny, so we decided to meet a friend at the beach.  It was NOT sunny (well, maybe it was on the other side of the pollution) and it was COLD and WINDY!  We lasted about 30 minutes before Lauren was shaking so bad that our friend took her sweater off and put it on Lauren.  We then went to the mall to warm up.
Hudson asked if he could drive his bus outside.  Haha!  I had no idea he meant go to the playground and drive it while sitting.  So funny.
Ah, another tooth!  He's growing up so fast!
So, the last night of CNY it is tradition to eat these little round balls in soup because you go from a new moon to a full moon, so it's like the moon. We have never actually eaten them because it's typically eaten at your home just with your immediate family, but our complex had a little party and they had chefs giving out bowls of the soup.
Lauren was the only one that wanted some.  Her smile vanished pretty soon after she bit into one...it's kind like a peanut buttery paste...kindof....inside.  She was not a fan.  At least we can now say that someone in our family has had them.
They had a couple little games to play outside.  This little man was so excited to play a game throwing balls into a trash can and then he got his card stamped because he got his balls into the can.  He was so happy!
Proud Mama Moment: These two girl had 60 seconds using chopsticks to pick up as many marbles out of the bowl of water and place into the adjacent bowl as they could.  Katherine got 13 and Lauren got 6, both beating the local girls who had just gone before them :) ...proud mama ;)
Katherine was finally starting to feel better just in time for a soccer game.  Her team won and Katherine got TWO goals!  It's her first goals of the year!  She was so excited!

Hudson completed his very first puzzle on his own.
We also celebrated Valentine's Day!  I got them each a piece of candy at the store, made a card, and had it waiting on their seat when school started the next morning :)  FUN
Hudson wanted to know what he would look like with blonde hair...haha!  He changed his mind about wanting to dye it blonde.  He says he looks better with black hair :)
The kids made things at Chinese class.  It wasn't until after they made their creations that they were told that they had to explain all about it in Chinese :)
Lauren made it to 50 stars for reading!  That means pizza and a dessert!  She hasn't gotten her pizza yet, but she chose this cheesecake while she and I were waiting for her dance class to start.
 "This is good!"
All the girls got their hair trimmed.  They ended up straightening Regan's hair.  I haven't seen it straight like this in a LONG time!  Everyone at the salon was going crazy over the color of her hair.  I personally couldn't believe how long it actually was.  Her hair is really curly naturally.
Katherine has been saving for a fanny pack for months! She had almost saved up enough.  We happened to be at the store where it has been sitting and we notice that it was half price!!  YEAH!  She learned that if you work hard, save your money, and are patient, sometimes you can actually get it at a better price. Good job Katherine!
Thank you Mary and David for my birthday plants (and thanks Jonathan for finding them)! It was a great Valentine's Day surprise.
I love watching his creativity grow.  The more we talk him into playing, the more we see it.  We actually don't have to talk him into playing cars anymore.  This mat is his favorite place to be!  I love the bus parking he has created :)
