Year of the Bull 2021

Happy Chinese New Year! We have gotten several messages for the past several days from all of our China friends.

Here is Hillary and baby Dorcas!
Xiao Jun at Starbucks with her CNY mask
The kids got 1 hong bao this year...from Mamaw and Papaw
Happy kiddos

Katherine is ready for spring. She decided to go outside and draw her own flowers and wish for warmer weather and pretty flowers to come soon!

This just made me laugh. Who would have thought that toys/stuffed animals would come with matching masks a few years ago.
Regan looked up a recipe to try to make 牛肉拉面 Katherine has been wanting them for so long. It was pretty good, but it's hard to beat hand pulled Muslim noodles.
Katherine wanted to make a bag and new exactly what fabric she wanted for it. She looked it up online, went to the store to buy it, and made the bag in a day.
My first cake for someone other than the kids.
We had to miss Kayla's birthday because we were in quarantine.
I'm glad I got to make her a cake....red velvet. YUM!
Lauren hard at work in her physical therapy for her feet.
This is one of Lauren's favorites. She has something under her back. She has to contract her abs to get the needle to a certain number on the meter and keep it there while doing leg lift exercises and remembering to breathe :)
Benjamin (far right) first day back to taekwondo.
Regan (front line with pony tail and black belt)
Lauren's friend, Hadassah, made mallowmelt cookies for the kids (recipe in the new book)
Katherine found a WHITE leaf!
My favorite part about coming home...those cute little fur faces greeting me at the door.
Lauren and Hudson earned their arcade tokens for reading 100 books! (I've actually owed it to them for awhile) All the kids got to go, but Hudson and Lauren got extra.
It was a much need break for just some family fun.

This one was a fun game.

Huge Connect 4 game...Lauren vs. Daddy
This ended up being our favorite....lots of ping pong balls and trying to turn all the spots blue before the time ran out.
Pac-Man Air Hockey
About a minute into the game the table was filled with little mini pucks. So crazy! And fun!
This made me laugh. They look so serious.
Pac-Man
Time to pick prizes :)
Shared prizes were Chinese Checkers, Old Maid, bouncy balls, and candy.
Hudson got handcuffs (which he is super excited about) and lots of candy. Lauren got a stuffed llama, a toy, and candy.
Hungry after playing, we decided to eat at Auntie Anne's.

Hudson asked for a cinnamon roll instead.
