June 2025 - part 1

June...a few weeks off from school and some time to catch our breath a little. Regan spent the summer with her roommate in Atlanta and got to learn about living in the south ;) So excited for her that she got to got to an Atlanta Braves game!
The girls and I have still been teaching kids through the summer. Much of Rome leaves and heads for the beaches, but we have had a packed house every Sunday! We were trying to get a few selfies with some of "our kiddos" that will be promoting to the next class soon...of course that really means we get selfies with all the kids. Jasmine just loves the girls!
Caterina is a doll. She loves to touch my hair ;) and loves when we have stickers to give out!
Benjamin sent me this photo of him dog sitting. Any animal brings a smile to his face! I'm glad he got the chance to do this.
Ofelia, with eyes that always sparkle. If we spend a little extra time on our opening activity (usually a coloring page) then she will be the first to ask when we can hear the story. She also likes to copy the craft examples EXACTLY.
And Queenie...super quiet in class, but always respectful, obedient, and ready with a BIG smile! I have a ton more selfies, but just chose a couple random ones to throw in here.

The girls were exacted to have Hadassah visit for 3 weeks! :) All for the pictures are completely out of order but that is ok. This seems to be a fitting choice for her first photo on the blog...coffee. She loves it!
The girls went out one day for lunch, just the three of them. They had a good time
What is a visit to Rome without getting to try the world famous tiramisu!
...and gelato of course!!
We got tickets to go see one of Lauren's good friends' dance recital. It was fun to see. This is when they brought all the levels of dance out for a special part together.
After the show...Lauren and Sara...every dancer needs some flowers!

After a hot day of touring the city, Mama (aka me) decided that we needed some granitas to fight the heat. It did the job fantastically.
Yes, it is the year of jubilee, so there are many groups or groups of nuns that come to visit the Vatican and the 4 churches of Rome to walk through the holy doors. This group sang the entire way there (and actually sounded pretty good)
Yep...herding us through the holy door. So many people have touched certain parts of the door that it has turned shiny gold...and way too many people kissing the door.
Katherine took Hadassah a few places, including the Spanish steps.
The girls wanted Hadassah to have a bubble tea from their favorite shop. We've literally been holding off on all the things until Hadassah arrived knowing that the kids would want her to experience it all.
My girls aren't big coffee drinkers, but Hudson is! He had no problem takin Hadassah for morning coffee!
We did NOT plan the matching outfits, but got a kick out of everyone having the same idea at the same time
Not a super Italian experience, but the kids did not want to miss the chance to see How to Train a Dragon in English. We actually don't get that many English movies, most have been dubbed over in Italian. So, this was a treat (especially since this was a cartoon they have grown up on)
We almost had the theater to ourselves. The popcorn buckets were a bit bigger than we thought, but it served as our main dinner so it's ok, right? :) Two buckets of salted and one bucket of caramel

Something I will never get used to...an intermission. It always falls at the worst times and is really not necessary, but they bring this little cart into the room hoping that you will buy some overpriced candy.

Hudson was trying to show Hadassah the ancient aquaducts. He did find some (and a small wildfire) but managed to miss completely the main attraction...but it's ok. They had a good time
I was asked to pick up a Starbucks mug for someone...perfect excuse for another coffee :)
Trying to squeeze in a few more meals of authentic Italian dishes before she has to leave
Inside one of the churches we visited...people leave cards and prayers for dead loved ones hoping that Mary (or whichever saint is at that alter) will pass along the message.
checking out the perspective dome
the Pantheon
The girls came with me to pick up Hannah! We were sad not to get to visit longer, but enjoyed the hour car ride! (She was coming in for a wedding) We will take what we can get
My friend took this photo of the church near our place. I've never seen anyone take the photo from this perspective, but I thought it gave it a really cool look, especially with the colors in the sky.
This was actually Hadassah's first stop...we felt bad that she couldn't eat a cornetto because they are amazing! But we asked about cross-contamination with nuts at this place and they said it would be best not to eat one. She was happy with the coffee

The 4 of us in our tiny elevator (I will only go down with 4...I refuse to go up with 4...I have gotten stuck in elevators too many times here)
The kids played lots of games with Hadassah (mostly between 2 and 4:30 to get a break from the heat) This time it's Ticket to Ride
Naples pizza
Hadassah straight from the airport to our house (and first look at European elevators)
