Katherine's Field Trip

Katherine's class went on a 3 day field trip to Segni, Italy. Katherine is going to have to help me with these photos because I have no idea...the teacher sent them.  This is the monolithic wall. The city has a twin city in Mycenae, Greece.
This is the church. The pit on the bottom left is where they used to try to "hit a pig" a long time ago. It was a town game where everyone was blindfolded and everyone wore a bell (including the pig) When they heard the bell they would try to hit it, thinking it was the pig, but it was usually another person. The first person to hit the pig won. The entire town would watch this game each year.

Grotte di Pastena...Caves of Pastena
This was the first day. They hiked several hours up mount Cacume
The Saracen Gate

Hall of Bats...yes, there are still many bats there
The top of Mt. Cacume...and the little tiny church

This is where the cattle would come get water.

That's my girl....taking lots of photos to remember her trip ;)

This is when Katherine was heading down to meet her class for the start of the field trip.
They are ready!
And off they went!
Katherine got up at 5am to see the lunar eclipse. They were staying in the valley and the moon was hidden by the mountains. I grabbed this photo from a friend so that she can remember getting up early to go look for it :)
This photo is also from the internet because the pictures didn't turn out of the really blue water. Katherine said it was really neat and seemed to be glowing. This particular section in this photo is for researchers only because it connects to another cave system, but the kids did get to see a different part.
