Oct - Farewell to the Swanns

Our good friends, the Swanns, have been our dear friends from day 1 of moving to Rome. We have been there for the birth of their youngest and watched their oldest go from baby to little kid. We sure are going to miss them, but are excited for the new adventures awaiting this family! The first two weeks of October, we did lots of "babysitting" so their parents could pack and sort and sell things, and sometimes we were workign right along side of them helping them to clean, organize, and pack. We took the kids to the park one day, and they were giving pony rides, 2 laps around the park for 2 kids 5 euros each. "Aunt Kelly" decided she needed to spoil them and give them some great last memories in Rome :)

When homeschooling, sometimes you just have to change it up to be able to keep things going. This time Katherine was in the hallway and the puppies were loving it!
It's braces day!!!!! He's SO EXCITED about finally getting his braces! He's waited patiently as we could only afford one kid at a time and he's the youngest.
Heading home on the metro.
Getting one more "before" picture so we can compare when he's finished.
We had a combined birthday party for Silas and Ruthie at the park.

Some of their little friends came to play. THey wanted to play a gain so Hudson jumped right in to take charge and explain all the rules.

The park also had a few rides

Cornettoland for a snack!
Making homemade cinnamon rolls with Katherine
One of their favorite things to do at our house is make a tent. This time, we made a tent so we could have some rest time and watch a movie and eat popcorn.
Katherine got her cotton candy machine out to make some for the kids.
We took a day and took the kids to the zoo in Rome (our first time to go as well!)

What an entrance for a zoo! Very Rome ;)
giraffes
cool goat with twisty horns
playful monkeys
ostriches
limus
The white tiger was pacing while we were there so we got some good up close pictures every time he walked by us.

We went to see the bears. While we were there, they both decided to get in the water and play! It was so fun to see them so active!
posing for a picture and this one decided to swim behind them and just stop
