Oct - Friends Visit, Sicily, Halloween

One of the biggest perks about Rome is that our friends from all over occasionally take vacation here! The girls have been friends since they were teeny tiny. So fun seeing them all together again! Grace and Katherine (ther two in the center) are going to the same university next year!! That will be fun!
Taking the Z's around town for a day
Trevi Fountain - Katherine, Grace, and Caroline (Lauren was having a root canal because her tooth decided to die. They said it was likely due to trauma when she was 6)
Lauren and Jonathan met us for lunch, but poor Lauren wasn't allowed to eat anything hot and couldn't dance for 3 days (we didn't find that info out until after they did the procedure. It was pretty extensive and required stitches)
JoAna and Grace and their first gelato
haha...yes, we all got some!
Group photo outside of San Giovanni Basillica
The girls
Katherine and Emma walking to their tennis class
My new little buddy, Kaden! We have a little English lesson once a week to work on phonics and reading skills.
Katherine is still a whole head taller than them. HAHA! So fun to see some of these Then and Now photos
hard to see, but Shadow is just letting Katherine carry him backwards and he's super content because he can still see me in the kitchen
Scout looks so happy! Thankful for the Hollands who watched our fur babies while we were in Sicily! The dog's got tons of attention!
At the airport and all of my kids are "shopping" Hudson smelling ALLLLL the different colognes...
....and the girls picking out over priced stuffed animals. (just window shopping)
First time on this airline. The kids tickets had them entering at the back door and mine and Jonathan's entered vis the front door...so we snapped this picture before we split ways.
He LOVES traveling :) and so do I.
Teatro Massimo
finding some plants as we walked (we had to carry our backpacks with us through town because it was too early to check in at the hotel)
Teatro Massim
Teatro Massim
Cannolis from the land they were invented....never had any so big! Left-original, middle-almond, right- chocolate (I preferred the original)
walking the streets
Hudson bought a bracelet. They made it his size while we waited.
This menu cracked me up....al the different L'Arancina but they all look teh same on the outside.
family photo
This piazza/intersection is known for the four corners called Quattro Canti...it was hard to capture in a photo since you need 360 degrees
definitely tourists. Jonathan started talkign to them in Mandarin, asking where they were from, etc. Come to find out they are from Malaysia so he switched to Bahasa. So fun. They were shocked and had fun talking with J
Quattro Canti

So many magnets to choose from!!! I like several but only need one for my fridge

THIS. This is such a normal photo for a TCK. New place. Backpacks. Taking it all in. Heading to the oldest gate of the city then to our hotel

In our hotel parking lot....he's a bit tired...and blends in with the pavement haha
view from our room

A storm was rolling in, so it was a bit overcast

Mom in the frame ;)
kids in teh artwork
we walked down to the beach
it was pretty cold and choppy water...normal it is calm
sisters getting their feet wet
Hudson and I taking photos
experimenting with different phone settings
nice
hanging out in the hotel lobby
check out those waves...you aren't allowed in right now because it's a bit crazy...doesn't look it in the photo but very unpredictable
My dancer
repeating the sibling photo on a sunny day
family photo
walking around at night
we found Popeye
the bay
interesting....the washing machines are just randomly outside on street corners...I asked a guy at a shop about them and he said it makes it easier for ABNB owners to wash sheets, etc because they don't have them in the apartments
Teatro Politeama Garibaldi in Palermo
So funny. We asked several local people the best place to eat dinner. They all pointed us to this restaurant. When we got there it was a Roman restaurant...haha! It was good, but nothing like Rome ;)
The waves keep coming
Met with a young lady, Peppa. We had coffee and were able to have some good conversations ;)
She came back to the house for a few minutes before she went to meet some others nearby. She loved the dogs (and Scout claimed her lap almost immediately)
Katherine as Mike Wazowski and Scout as Boo
Hudson as a CDA agent on Monsters Inc
Lauren as a gumball machine

Jonathan as a Nick, the sly fox on Zootopia
Kelly as a reindeer (the kids know I always cheat and just go with some sort of ears)
The views in Sicily
Lovely Sicily
I can't believe we all got a seat outside the gelato shop
Regan and all the other teachers at her school had to dress up as their favorite book character for a book parade with the kids. She was Pinkalicious...perfect
All the Holland kids loving on our fur babies :)
These kids are CRAZY! That water was ICE COLD! I think they might have had hypothermia when they got out, but they just HAD to swim at least once.
