Trip to Zhongshan

This is what happens when you take a trip during holidays...you are not able to get enough tickets for everyone to have a seat in the same car of the train, so you just squeeze. The look on Hudson's face is just too funny.
Scout in his happy spot....anyone's lap.
We went to Zhongshan to celebrate Yoyo's 12th birthday. Twelve is "the big birthday" here because it is "your birth year" on the Chinese Zodiac calendar. So, every 12 years is a big celebration.

We got to the house and the kids said Xiao Jun and I matched because we both have the same style jackets on (which both came from the States) You can't forget Winter photo bombing the picture :)
The kids all played a game together. It's similar to Sorry but not quite the same.
They gave all the kids a candle to put on the cake.
The guys and their devices...haha!

They both decide to sit on Regan's lap. So much LOVE :)
Katherine is quite the studious one. She loves learning (most of the time) and is just flying through her schoolwork this year! She's doing a great job! I told her that I might let her take an online class next year and asked what type of class she was interested in. She said French. French?  OK, I guess we will see how she likes it next year.
The younger kids had solar system projects that they were working on. I told them to each be creative and gave guidelines, but really wanted to see where they went with it. They also had to present it to the class and talk about the solar system. I loved seeing each of their personalities in the way they did their posters. Lauren's was very colorful and as close to scale as she could get.
Hudson's was cute...looks like everything revolves around the Earth because Earth is the most important thing in the universe, right? ;) Cute. He has quite the memory though even if he doesn't understand all of it. He could tell me facts about each planet.
Grace had to present hers from the floor because one of her planets never got glued on, so when it was time to present, she glued it quickly and it kept falling off.
Here is Katherine's. Similar concept to Lauren, but a very linear approach. I loved each and every project. I'm glad they followed directions and used their own ideas.
Oh, yes. It seems like this is just going to be a very familiar place.  Lauren had 3 more cavities. She is the only child that struggles with getting cavities. She was very brave. They filled all three. They don't numb you here for that kind of thing. This is the best place we have found so far.
Hudson lost a tooth and was so excited about the tooth fairy coming. We found this note with his tooth. HAHA! Can you please give Mommy and Daddy more money, too? We could sure use it as well ;) HAHA!
The same hamster always makes the blog because he is the most laid back and never runs away.  I cannot handle another lost rat in the house ;)
This right here has made me one happy person! Our hand mixer broke a few weeks ago. We've been mixing by hand until we could decide whether to bite the bullet and by a stand mixer than can handle making cookie dough or buy yet another hand mixer (we've gone through 4 now...the motors burn up so quickly) Well, you can see that we waited and bought the stand mixer...just in time for all the birthdays coming up! :)
I guess she decide to cuddle next to Scout in his bed this time :)
Shadow joined in and was lovingly covered up with all of the dog toys in the house. He didn't mind one bit.
You can't see him, but that is a picture of one very happy Hudson. He LOVES London taxis, but we rarely get one. He happened to get one...and a gold one at that!
Regan working on her gift to Lauren. I'm always so amazed that she has been able to teach herself how to use so many different mediums. This was her first attempt at a watercolor picture.
Family movie night was just a little too much for him :) Sound asleep. Yes. Right next to Scout.
The moment she has waited MONTHS for!!! She passed her 2nd degree black belt test a while ago, but they will not issue the black belt until the certificates arrive from Korea.
WE are so proud of all the hard work she has put into this and continues to put into it!
The main guy even came up to me afterwards to make sure that I knew he had invited Regan to start coming to the coaches only class. According to the rules, she can be a coach once she turns 16. I guess he is starting the training for her. She couldn't be happier!
:) I think it looks so cool!
This is the "main guy" He is a 6th degree black belt and trains kids and coaches all over the country!! She's very fortunate to learn taekwondo from him at his center.
Her picture and certificate number are on the other side. This is her official worldwide ID card that will allow her to coach anywhere in the world. Pretty cool.
A little boy at taekwondo drew a picture of Regan.
SO CUTE!!! He was embarrassed and wouldn't show his face, but that's ok.

Regan had an assignment for class to make scones and serve to her family...so the recipe basically tasted like a flat biscuit...but this was the ONLY picture that I got because everyone ate them too quickly!! YUM! She should have more homework assignments like that ;)
Regan's first coaches class. (She didn't know that you were supposed to wear long sleeves to this class)
I think this is the prettiest flower yet to come from Regan's plant. It gives her 1-3 new blooms every couple of weeks. I just liked the coloring of this one. It was so unique.
Someone is a little relaxed ;)
Katherine wanted me to buy a watermelon....a watermelon that was not much bigger than her LONG fingers! No this time, girl.
